We have been waiting for some news from Glass Spells in San Diego for some time. Yesterday we were surprised to find out that the new Mirrors EP is available from today. This one will blow you away, because if there’s one thing the band can do, it’s catchy tunes.

Already a few times Anthony Ramirez (Synth/Bass), Tania Casette (Vox) and Michael Buehl were guests on our blog and to be honest, we became big fans. But still we hesitated to listen to the new EP first. Not because we didn’t know what to expect, but quite the opposite. At the last release (the Mirrors single) we couldn’t walk two meters for a whole week without hearing a “Hold Up” in our heads and humming the melody of the song. This song is clearly in our Top 10 of positive catchy tunes. But even today, while writing the review, the “Hold Up” is omnipresent again. But we love it.

Analogue synth-pop with a big portion of 80s flair, you could call the style of the three musicians or just disco-punk as they call it themselves. That’s right, because every song comes through the speakers with an unbelievable dynamic that even people who never dance get the urge to dance. Real dancefloor fillers.But the sound in combination with the incredibly enchanting voice of Tania can do even more. She radiates an intense good mood and soon the world looks better and more likeable again, especially in these days. Driving beats and a thick, juicy bass get the blood pumping and make it incredibly difficult for the listener to escape even for fractions from their songs.

With five songs on the EP they will also show you how they manage to put all their skills into different shapes. You can be sure that nothing sounds like before. Sometimes they’re slow, sometimes they hit you with the force of a hurricane. But one thing always remains the same, they hit the hearts of the fans. No wonder that the trio is well known in California and that they have received several awards. We are sure that we will hear a lot more from Glass Spells and that their road to success is steeply rising.

Summary:
As expected, the Mirrors EP is powerful, danceable and will be a regular guest in the clubs. Definitely worth to buy it.

Wir haben schon einige Zeit auf etwas Neues vom San Diego Projekt Glass Spells gewartet und waren gestern dann sehr überrascht, das die Mirrors EP ab heute erhältlich ist. Eine EP die euch begeistern wird, denn was Ohrwürmer angeht, sind die Musiker nicht zu schlagen.

Schon ein paar Male waren Anthony Ramirez (Synth/Bass), Tania Casette (Vox) und Michael Buehl schon zu Gast auf unserem Blog und offen gesagt sind wir mittlerweile große Fans des einzigartigen Sounds geworden. Trotzdem zögerten wir erst ein Mal ein wenig in die neue EP zu schnuppern, nicht etwa weil wir nicht wussten was uns erwartet sondern genau weil wir wussten was kommt. Bei der letzten Veröffentlichung – Mirror Single – konnten wir ungelogen eine Woche keine zwei Schritte gehen ohne das uns der Song im Kopf blieb. Ganz klar mit in der Top 10 der positiv hartnäckigsten Ohrwürmer ever. Heute, nach mehrmaligem Hören und während wir hier das Review schreiben unterbricht uns auch jetzt regelmäßig ein “Hold Up” in unserer Konzentration. Aber wir lieben das.

Analoger Synth-Pop mit ordentlich 80s Begeisterung und wuchtigen Bässen könnte man den Stil der Drei nennen oder einfach den Begriff wählen, den sie selber nutzen: Disco-Punk. In der Tat, jedes Lied der Musiker kommt mit einer wahnsinnigen Dynamik durch die Lautsprecher, dass man auch den letzten Tanzmuffel auf die Tanzfläche bekommt. Der Sound in Kombination mit der unglaublich bezaubernden Stimme von Tania kann aber noch mehr, sie versprüht intensiv gute Laune und schnell sieht die Welt, gerade in der jetzigen Zeit, wieder etwas entspannter und liebenswerter aus. Treibende Beats und ein dicker, saftiger Bass bringen zusätzlich das Blut in Wallung und machen es für den Hörer unglaublich schwer sich auch nur für Bruchteile zu entziehen.

Mit fünf Songs auf der EP werden sie euch außerdem zeigen, wie sie es schaffen all ihr Können auch in verschieden klingende Gewänder zu packen, denn bei Glass Spells hört sich niemals etwas gleich an. Mal etwas gemächlicher oder im nächsten Song direkt mit der Wucht eines Orkans. Eins bleibt gleich, sie treffen die Herzen der Fans und es ist also kein Wunder, dass die Drei in Kalifornien schon einen enormen Bekanntheitsgrad haben und so manche Auszeichnungen von Radiosendern erhalten haben. Wir sind uns sicher, der Weg der drei Musiker wird weiter steil nach oben gehen wird.

Fazit:
Die Mirrors EP ist wie zu erwarten ein Kraft- und Tanzpaket und wird ein regelmäßiger Gast in den Clubs werden. Lohnt sich.
