New Album // What Dreams May Come – THE IRE

A very special debut album in June is clearly “What Dreams May Come” from Philadelphia by the hip quartet THE IRE.

The music world is big, damn big. Even if you limit yourself to a few genres, the choice is still so big that many really great releases pass us by. It almost happened with THE IRE’s debut, but while browsing the Playalonerecords homepage we were immediately attracted by the design of the new longplayer. Curious, we took a closer look at the band of Maya, Ashley, Daniel and Florence. Unfortunately, the information about the band from Philadelphia is very sparse, but if you can´t get information you just concentrate even more on the outstanding sound. Believe us, the album is strong as a full-grown whirlwind.

After a short, coherent intro, “The Chariot” gets underway with a lot of energy. Banging basslines, snappy guitars and matching beat fuse with the strong and with distinctive vocals to a rich sound experience. Rarely does a sound catch on so quickly. But who is surprised? The strong 80s vibes that the four musicians have woven everywhere in the sound appeal just as young music lovers, as well as the veterans of the 80s. If you haven’t experienced the 80s in your life, you can convince yourself here why so many people declare this era as their favorite time. Everything seems bigger, richer and with more detail. This is also how the four approach their sound. Take for example song number 7, “Ketu: The Severed”, an imposing wall of sound that leaves the listener standing with his mouth open in awe and wonder. It is truly difficult to put into words what THE IRE offer here in terms of experience, as you can clearly see in every song. The more you hear of the album, the more you feel drawn into an epic adventure with a brilliant soundtrack. You want to experience the whole story and just not leave it anymore.

A debut like you rarely experience. Great work. Absolute must buy!

Ein ganz besonderes Debüt Album im Juni ist ganz klar “What Dreams May Come” aus Philadelphia vom angesagtem Quartett THE IRE.

Die Musikwelt ist groß, verdammt groß. Selbst wenn man sich auf ein paar Genre beschränkt ist die Auswahl immer noch so groß, das viele wirklich großartige Veröffentlichungen an uns vorbei gehen. Mit dem Debüt von THE IRE wäre es auch fast passiert, doch hat uns beim Stöbern auf der Playalonerecords Homepage das Design des neuen Longplayers sofort angesprochen. Neugierig geworden befassten wir uns mit der Band von Maya, Ashley, Daniel und Florence etwas genauer. Leider sind die Informationen über die Band aus Philadelphia sehr spärlich, doch dann konzentriert man sich eben noch mehr auf den überragenden Sound und glaubt uns, das Album ist stark wie ein ausgewachsener Wirbelwind.

Nach kurzem, stimmigen Intro geht es mit “The Chariot” auch schon energiegeladen los. Knallige Basslines, flotte Gitarren und passender Beat fusionieren mit den starken und mit unverwechselbaren Vocals zu einem satten Sounderlebnis. Selten fixt einen Sound so schnell an. Aber wen wundert es, die starken 80s Vibes den die vier Musiker überall in den Sound verwebt haben sprechen ebenso junge Musikliebhaber an, wie eben auch die Veteranen der 80er. Wer in seinem Leben die 80er nicht erlebt hat, kann sich hier überzeugen warum so viele Menschen diese Epoche als ihre Lieblingszeit erklären. Alles erscheint größer, satter und mit mehr Detail. Eben so gehen die vier auch ihren Sound an. Nehmen wir z.B. Song Nummer 7, “Ketu: The Severed”, eine imposante Wall of Sound, die den Hörer immer kleiner werdend und staunend mit offenem Mund stehen lässt. Es ist wahrlich schwer in Worte zu fassen was THE IRE hier an Erlebnis bieten, wie man auch im Song danach deutlich erkennen kann. Je mehr man hört von dem Album, desto mehr fühlt man sich in ein episches Abenteuer mit genialem Soundtrack hineingezogen. Man möchte die Geschichte erleben, sie nicht mehr verlassen.

Ein Debüt wie man es selten erlebt. Großartige Arbeit. Absoluter Pflichtkauf!
