We are already used to big surprises from the trendsetting label Cold Transmission with great regularity, but the fact that they once again attract one of our personal favorites bands makes them all the more likeable. DEAD ASTRONAUTS may not be as familiar to the post-punk community, but fans (like us) of sophisticated and lovingly designed synth-based sound will be. Shortly after the signing at Cold Transmission, the musicians Jared Kyle, Florence Bullock (Glitbiter) and Slade Tempelton (Crying Vessel), are already there for the fans with a new single and video. “Forgetting Me” is the name of the new release and is only the prelude after a long felt abstinence to the album, which will be available in 202) and will probably be called Silhouettes.

Loyal fans will have noticed that the sound has shifted with the addition of Slade and now includes more / clearer components from other genres such as darkwave and post-punk, but without losing the typical and distinctive musical core of the Dead Astronauts. Lots of little electronic gizmos that will pass you by like a beautiful meteor shower in the starry sky or like taking you into a wonderful and unique world of music. Especially it will melt a lot of hearts from 80s kids that are grown up with synth music. In combination with the contrasting but wonderfully harmonizing vocals the single ist rounded up to perfection.

When the foretaste in the form of video and single releases allow conclusions to be drawn about the quality of the expected album, Silhouettes becomes an absolute masterpiece.

Große Überraschungen sind wir vom Durchstarter-Label Cold Transmission bereits mit großer Regelmäßigkeit gewohnt, das sie aber wieder einmal einen unserer persönlichen Favoriten an Land ziehen macht sie um so liebenswerter. DEAD ASTRONAUTS wird der Post-Punk Gemeinde vielleicht nicht ganz so geläufig sein, den Fans (wie wir) von ausgeklügeltem und liebevoll gestaltetem synthbasiertem Sound allerdings schon. Kurz nach dem Signing bei Cold Transmission sind die mittlerweile meist zu dritt anzutreffenden Musiker, Jared Kyle, Florence Bullock (Glitbiter) und Slade Tempelton (Crying Vessel) schon mit einer neuen Single und Video für die Fans da. “Forgetting Me” heißt das gute Stück und ist erst der Auftakt nach einer gefühlten langen Abstinenz zum ebenfalls in den Startlöchern (2021) stehendem Album, das wohl auf den Namen Silhouettes hören wird.

Treue Fans werden sicherlich bemerkt haben, das sich der Sound mit dem Zuwachs von Slade etwas verschoben hat und nun mehr bzw. deutlichere Komponenten aus anderen Genres wie z.B. Darkwave und Post-Punk beinhaltet, allerdings ohne den typischen und unverkennbaren musikalischen Kern der Dead Astronauts zu verlieren. Viele kleine elektronische Gizmos die wie ein wunderschöner Meteoritenschauer am Sternenhimmel an einem vorbeiziehen, dich in eine ganz eigene Welt entführen und vor allem den Kids der 80er vor Erinnerungen das Herz schmelzen lassen. Hinzu kommen die konträren, doch wunderbar harmonierenden Vocals die den Traum aus Musik zur Perfektion hin abrunden.

Wenn der Vorgeschmack in Form von Video und Singleauskopplung Rückschlüsse auf die Qualität des zu erwartenden Albums zulassen, dann wird Silhouettes ein absolutes Feuerwerk.
