Colombia’s Noromakina are back with a small EP “Umbra” and show once again impressively why you have to have the band on your shelf. Dark and Nada are the names of the two tracks you can hear on the EP and they have everything that makes Noromakina in itself.

The two musicians Mel Uv and Pluszeichen have a special feeling when it comes to mix the modern with the past. Their palette of possibilities is huge and you can hear the enthusiasm with which they pursue their passion. Here and there lo-fi meets modern synths and like to mix with many ideas from the musicians’ environment. Horror movies for example are one of their favorite ingredients. Add to that the little bit of Latin temperament mixed with the equally present coolness and voila, the two very catchy songs are ready, which are not only suitable for loud listening but also for comfortable listening on the couch. Quickly you revel in thoughts of past times or look forward to the next opportunity to go dancing.

While Dark stands out for its speed and is a real bundle of energy in the old style, throwing bass and synths around and shaking the listener properly, Nada comes at the listener in a rather frosty cooler way. Lots of little niches that gradually reveal themselves, trapping the listener in a slightly melancholic world of their own.

We are curious what we may hear next from Bogota, because the potential of Noromakina seems inexhaustible. We are looking forward to it!

Kolumbiens Noromakina sind mit einer kleinen EP “Umbra” zurück und zeigen wieder einmal eindrucksvoll warum man die Band in seinem Regal stehen haben muss. Dark und Nada heißen die beiden Tracks die ihr auf der EP hören könnt und die haben alles was Noromakina ausmacht in sich vereint.

Die beiden Musiker Mel Uv und Pluszeichen haben besonderes Fingerspitzengefühl wenn es darum geht die Moderne mit der Vergangenheit zu mischen. Ihre Palette der Möglichkeiten ist dabei riesengroß und man merkt dem Sound an, mit welcher Begeisterung die Beiden ihrer Leidenschaft nachgehen. Hier und dort treffen Lo-Fi auf Moderne Synths und vermischen sich gerne mit vielen Ideen aus dem Umfeld der Musiker. Horrorfilme zum Beispiel sind eine der Lieblingszutaten. Hinzu kommt noch das Quentchen lateinamerikanisches Temperament gemischt mit der ebenso vorhandenden Coolness und voila, fertig sind die beiden Ohrwürmer, die sich nicht nur zum lauten Hören eignen sondern ebenso zum gemütlichen Hören auf der Couch. Schnell schwelgt man in Gedanken an vergangene Zeiten oder freut sich auf die nächste Möglichkeit tanzen zu gehen.

Während Dark durch seine Schnelligkeit auffällt und ein echtes Bündel Energie im alten Stil ist, mit Bass und Synths um sich wirft und den Hörer ordentlich durchschüttelt, kommt Nada auf eher frostig kalte Weise auf den Hörer zu. Viele kleine Nischen die sich nach und nach offenbaren und den Hörer in einer eigenen, leicht melancholischen Welt gefangen halten.

Wir sind gespannt was wir als nächstes aus Bogota hören dürfen, denn das Potenzial von Noromakina scheint unerschöpflich. Wir freuen uns!
