SPOTLIGHT ist the brand new compilation by the currently hottest label in dark music seg-ment „Cold Transmission“ and shows how familiar and kind music buisiness could be. A double CD with 27 first-class artist and impressive songs.

It was a bit unusual, because unlike usual we had a real CD in our hands this time. With the large number of entries, CDs became very rare and somehow we were happy about it. Personally, we put a lot of emphasis on the visual component and Andreas & Co did a great job on that as well. Together with the 8-page booklet, which impressively shows you the diversity of the family, you get a decorative eye-catcher.

Within its short existence the young label has already signed 27 bands and since the pressing of the CDs it has even become more. If you take a look at all the bands’ countries of origin, you quickly realize how much perseverance and foresight the team puts into the selection of their music. It would indeed be easier to make a list of countries where Cold Transmission has not yet signed a band.

Also the music genres the label serves are countless. Electronic Noir, classic Post-Punk, all kinds of Wave are only a part of the wide selection. There is fast music, slow, sometimes soulful but also agile and dynamic. But one factor remains the same, the uniqueness and class of the bands. Not only the skill, but also the warmth and friendliness of the band members. We have some live experience and can confirm first hand that this is the great strength of the family.

But back to the SPOTLIGHT compilation. With 27 songs you basically already get a great deal, but Cold Transmission goes one step further and has some exclusive tracks on the two CDs for you. We think you won’t find them anywhere else. So your excitement about SPOTLIGHT should rise quickly. You will not be disappointed, because we have had the compilation in an endless loop for some time now. It is not only suitable for driving, but also for relaxing on the couch in the evening. Nowadays with Corona, it is of course hard to dance to the songs, but you can also just jump in your own apartment like in the old days. How often have we heard the compilation now? Actually so many times that we have stopped counting, but we are already looking forward to the next joyride.

Was Familie und Zusammengehörigkeit bedeutet und sein kann zeigt uns die zur Zeit angesagteste Label Familie im dunklen Musiksegment einmal wieder mit einer wunderbaren Compilation. SPOTLIGHT heißt die Doppel-CD und zeigt neben den Familienmitgliedern ebenso die Klasse derer.

Ein wenig außerhalb des üblichen Konzeptes war es schon als wir auf die Compilation aufmerksam wurden, denn anstatt als digitale Version gab es diesmal ein Produkt das wir anfassen konnten. Bei den ganzen Einsendungen in digitaler Form mal etwas erfrischend anderes, denn bekanntlich isst das Auge mit und Andreas & Co haben sich sowohl in der Farbe aber auch im Design etwas tolles einfallen lassen. Zusammen mit dem 8 Seiten starken Booklet, das euch eindrucksvoll die Vielfalt der Bands mit ihrer Herkunft und Genre aufzeigt, bekommt man einen echten Hingucker fürs heimische Regal.

Zum Zeitpunkt der Pressung, hatte das Label mittlerweile 27! außergewöhnliche Bands unter die Fittiche genommen und wenn man sich den relativ kurzen Zeitraum des Schaffens von Cold Transmission ansieht, kann man im Grunde nur den Hut ziehen. Ebenso spricht die schiere Anzahl der Herkunftsländer für die Weitsicht mit der das Team an die Arbeit geht und wenn man eine Länderaufzählung machen wollen würde, wäre es bestimmt einfacher die noch nicht betroffenen Länder aufzuzählen.

Von Noir Electronics über klassischen Post-Punk bis zum Gothic Pop und den möglichen Wave Varianten, hält das Label eigentlich für jeden Geschmack etwas bereit. Schnelles, langsames, gefühlvolles oder auch mal agil und dynamisches. Eines bleibt aber gleich und das macht die wirkliche Stärke der Familie aus, die Bands sind alle erstklassig unterwegs. Nicht nur vom Können und Spielen her, sondern auch von der Herzlichkeit und Freundlichkeit. Wir haben da so unsere Erfahrungen und fühlen uns immer gut aufgehoben.

Kommen wir aber zur SPOTLIGHT Compilation. Mit 27 eigenen, unvergleichlichen Songs schon ein wirklich dickes Ding, das im Grunde schon reichen würde, aber es wäre eben nicht Cold Transmission wenn man nicht zusätzlich einiges an Exklusivität bekommen würde, denn einige Titel werdet ihr nirgendwo anders finden denken wir. Das heißt eure Spannung auf die CD sollte also immens steigen. Enttäuscht werdet ihr nicht, denn seit wir sie haben laufen sie nahezu in Endlosschleife. Beim Autofahren (bei dem Wetter extrem cool) oder einfach abends auf der Anlage wenn man auf der Couch sitzt. In Corona-Zeiten ist das mit dem Tanzen so eine Sache, aber auch hierzu fordern dich die Scheiben auf und wer weiß, vielleicht hüpft man einfach mal wie in den alten Zeiten in der Wohnung rum. Wie oft wir sie jetzt gehört haben? Keine Ahnung, aber wir freuen uns schon auf die nächste Ausfahrt mit der Compilation.

Sich einen Überblick über das Cold Transmission Label verschaffen oder einfach einen Sampler mit extrem geilen Tracks kaufen? Hier geht beides.
