Let’s come to a really outstanding release from Chile, the album Victory by The Blue Reptiles is one of our absolute top recommendations 2020.

Those who have been following our magazine for a long time know that Latin America, especially Chile, has always had a magical attraction for us, not only musically. Too unique is the “dark” music to pass by without enjoying it extensively. One of these bands, The Blue Reptiles, has finally released their debut longplayer and with 13 songs a big package of music enjoyment.

The trio, consisting of Oliver, Christian and Leila shows already with the first song “Cosmic River” what the listeners can expect. Fast post-punk with light wave influences, which quickly goes into the blood and nests in your ears and brain. Basically following the ingredients for a good sound, the three manage to let their own brand and strengths flow into the sound. The diversified drum-play is just as perceptible as the guitar-play. Together with the other instruments and the vocals, the listener quickly realizes that the three musicians have gone to work with clear ideas. Nothing should sound like before and therefore all 13 songs shine with innovation and even after repeated listening the longplayer doesn’t get boring. Even more quickly one is addicted to all the little things that have been put into the songs. You can spend a felt eternity with the songs. As well as for connoisseurs, the record is also for party people who just want to dance to the songs, because as I said, the sound quickly gets into your blood.

Thematically, of course, it’s all about the dark, morbid things in life, as the song “Killed By a S-Bahn Train” already reveals with its title. A thread that runs through the whole album and thus keeps the mood pretty subdued, but the three musicians can’t avoid the obvious “Chilean”. Which shouldn’t be seen as a flaw, on the contrary, the noticeable blood and heart in the music only makes the songs more likeable.

Kommen wir zu einer wirklich überragend gelungenen Veröffentlichung aus Chile, das Album Victory von The Blue Reptiles ist eine unserer absoluten Top-Empfehlungen 2020.

Wer unserem Magazin schon länger folgt, der weiß das Lateinamerika, im speziellen aber Chile schon immer eine magische Anziehung, nicht nur musikalisch auf uns hatte. Zu einzigartig ist die “dunkle” Musik um daran vorbei zu gehen ohne sie ausgiebig zu genießen. Eine dieser Bands, The Blue Reptiles, hat nun endlich den Debut-Longplayer auf den Markt gebracht und mit gleich 13 Songs auch direkt ein ordentlich dickes Paket Musikgenuss.

Das Trio, bestehend aus Oliver, Christian und Leila zeigt schon mit dem ersten Song “Cosmic River” worauf sich die Hörer gefasst machen können. Schneller Post-Punk mit leichten Wave Anflügen, der flott ins Blut übergeht und ganz schnell im Gehörgang einnistet. Im Grunde ganz simpel den Zutaten für guten Sound folgend, schaffen es die Drei allerdings ganz deutlich ihre eigene Marke und Stärken in den Sound einfliessen zu lassen. Das abwechslungsreiche Drum-Play ist ebenso wahrzunehmen wie das Gitarren-Play. Zusammen mit den anderen Instrumenten und den Vocals wird dem Hörer schnell klar, das die drei Musiker mit klaren Vorstellungen an die Arbeit gegangen sind. Nichts soll sich wie zuvor anhören und dadurch glänzen alle 13 Songs mit Innovation und auch nach mehrmaligem Hören wird der Longplayer nicht langweilig. Mehr noch schnell ist man süchtig nach den ganzen Kleinigkeiten die in den Songs untergebracht worden sind und verbringt eine gefühlte Ewigkeit mit den Songs. Ebenso wie für Genießer ist die Platte allerdings auch für die Party Leute die einfach ausgiebig zu den Songs tanzen wollen, denn wie gesagt, der Sound geht schnell ins Blut über.

Thematisch gesehen geht es natürlich um die dunklen, morbiden Dinge im Leben, wie z.B. der Song “Killed By a S-Bahn Train” schon mit dem Titel verrät. Ein Faden der sich durchs ganze Album zieht und so die Stimmung ziemlich gedämpft hält, allerdings können die drei Musiker das offensichtliche “Chilenische” nicht umgehen. Was nicht als Makel angesehen werden soll, ganz im Gegenteil das spürbare Herzblut in der Musik macht die Songs nur noch sympathischer und liebenswerter.

Fazit:
Wer auf Abwechslung steht und kühle Herzlichkeit, der wird mit Victory genau das richtige bekommen. Wir können uns im Moment nicht satt hören und wir denken euch wird es ebenso ergehen.
