Having been friends since high school, but always going their separate ways musically, it was finally time for the three friends to get something going together.

Like so many creative people, Alex Gonzales, Bidi Cobra and Daniel Corrales had big plans for 2020, but in San Diego, as in the rest of the world, the effects of Covid-19 did not stop there. Much had to be postponed, re-planned but the trio used the time creatively and worked on their songs. The guys have conjured up a dark, catchy piece of electronics, which, in addition to the fine melodies, can also build up enough pressure and power to test the hifi system at home or or to ravage the dance floors. With a pulsating beat and the light, yet clearly perceptible industrial undertones, the vocals get an even more intense sound and fit perfectly into the theme of the song. Emotions, love, suffering and the resulting madness. In summary you can also say it simply, Pure is an incredible piece of music.

In any case you should make a note of autumn, because the “I’m Waving, Not Drowning” album will be available in the shops and on the platforms then and we are really hot for it. Wer sich in Kaliforniens dunkler Musikszene ein wenig auskennt, dem dürfte das Trio Matte Black bereits über den Weg gelaufen sein. Sei es durch die namhaften Musiker die bereits bei einigen anderen Bands mitgewirkt haben oder durch das kürzlich grandios umgesetzte Cover des Depesche Mode Klassikers “Stripped”. Schon seit der High-School befreundet, doch immer musikalisch getrennte Wege gegangen, war es für die drei Freunde endlich an der Zeit etwas gemeinsam auf die Beine zu stellen.

Wie so viele kreative Menschen hatten auch Alex Gonzales, Bidi Cobra und Daniel Corrales sich für 2020 viel vorgenommen, doch auch in San Diego wie im Rest der Welt machten die Auswirkungen von Covid-19 nicht halt. Vieles musste verschoben werden, neu geplant und trotzdem hat das Trio die Zeit kreativ genutzt und den vorliegenden Song erschaffen. Ein dunkles, eingängiges Stück Elektronik haben die Jungs gezaubert, das neben den feinen Melodien aber auch genügend Druck und Wucht aufbauen kann um die heimische Anlage zu testen oder die Clubs dieser Welt. Mit pulsierendem Beat und den leichten, doch deutlich spürbaren Industrial-Untertönen bekommen die Vocals einen noch intensiveren Klang und fügen sich perfekt in die Thematik des Songs ein. Emotionen, Liebe, Leid und der daraus resultierende Wahnsinn. Zusammengefasst kann man es auch simpel sagen, ein geiles Stück Musik.

Auf jeden Fall sollte man sich den Herbst vormerken, denn dann wird das “I’m Waving, Not Drowning” Album in den Läden und den Plattformen erhältlich sein und wir sind richtig heiß drauf. Nachdem wir nun einiges von den Jungs gehört haben und wir das Potential des Trios kennen, wird es eines der besten Alben im dunklen Elektrosektor werden.
