New Song - The Mist - STEREOSKOP

Arrived in the second half of the year, you can look back on a considerable number of great releases in 2021, but only a few leave a really persistent impression. So much so that, like the good old classics of music history, they keep recalling themselves. One of those songs is “The Mist” by the duo Stereoskop, which we’ve truly taken to so many different places and situations, so many that we’ve long since lost track. Once heard, this song can not be forgotten.

The Spanish duo consists of Alex Brujas (Guitars, Synths & Drums) and Susana Egea (Vocals & Synths) and is musically on the road since 1997 with an actually somewhat harder or more strongly represented electronic component like the last published song. “The Mist” now turns out to be a mixture of dreampop, synthwave and post-punk that puts the focus more on reverie. Multi-layered guitar riffs combined with a fast beat and this unique voice, which you will probably never forget again, form the basic framework in which a few synths are woven in as a rounding addition. After the first few seconds, after the goosebumps that crawl over the skin of the listener have faded away, you want to close your eyes and just surrender to the song. Dream, dance, float.

Fitting and 100% coherent to the songs also a video was produced, which underlines the whole atmosphere of the song again. Fog and monochrome colorings immerse the song even further in the already unique atmosphere. Very successful.

The Mist is the prelude to the long player “Silk”, which will probably be released in the fall, and looking back at the versatility of Stereoskop and the skill, the album will be a very hot candidate for one of the favorite albums of 2021. We are eagerly waiting.

In der zweiten Hälte des Jahres angekommen, kann man auf eine beachtliche Anzahl an großartigen Veröffentlichungen im Jahr 2021 zurück blicken, doch nur wenige hinterlassen einen wirklich hartnäckigen Eindruck. So weit, das sie wie die guten alten Klassiker der Musikgeschichte immer wieder selbst in Erinnerung rufen. Einer dieser Songs ist The Mist vom Duo Stereoskop, den wir wahrlich schon an so viele verschiedene Orte und Situationen mitgenommen haben, so viele, das wir längst den Überblick verloren haben. Einmal gehört kann man diesen Song nicht mehr vergessen.

Das spanische Duo besteht aus Alex Brujas (Guitars, Synths & Drums) und Susana Egea (Vocals & Synths) und ist seit 1997 musikalisch unterwegs mit einer eigentlich etwas härteren bzw. stärker vertretenden elektronischen Komponente wie der zuletzt veröffentlichte Song. The Mist entpuppt sich nun als eine Mischung aus Dreampop, Synthwave und Post-Punk, das den Focus mehr auf Träumerei legt. Vielschichtige Gitarrenriffs kombiniert mit flottem Beat und dieser einzigartigen Stimme, die man vermutlich nie wieder vergisst, bilden das Grundgerüst in dem man als abrundende Beigabe noch ein paar Synths einwebt. Nach den ersten Sekunden, nachdem die Gänsehaut die über die Haut des Hörers krabbelt verklungen ist, möchte man seine Augen schließen und sich dem Song einfach nur hingeben. Träumen, tanzen, schweben.

Passend und zu 100% Stimmig wurde zu dem Songs ebenfalls ein Video produziert, das die ganze Atmosphäre des Songs nochmals unterstreicht. Nebel und monochrome Färbungen tauchen den Song noch weiter in die ohnehin schon einzigartige Atmosphäre. Sehr gelungen.

The Mist ist der Auftakt zu dem wohl im Herbst erscheinenden Longplayer “Silk” und rückblickend auf die Wandlungsfähigkeit von Stereoskop und dem Können, wird das Album ein ganz heißer Kandidat für eines der Lieblingsalben 2021. Wir warten sehnsüchtig.
