Science Fiction/Music/Cult! These are the first words you can find on the Bandcamp profile of Cult Of Alia. A clear message that the Californian project also implements 100%, as you can now not only hear but also feel on the new album Offerings.

SciFi fans will of course be immediately reminded of the legendary novels of Dune, which features the cult of Alia Atreides. Powerful as the saga itself, David Wright, head and mastermind behind the Cult, also knits his songs. Already with the releases before, David had shown what an incredible potential is in his songs. Real music fans will of course have already raised their heads at the name and it’s true, we all know David from the Californian post-punk band Creux Lies which has gathered a large fan base worldwide. But as I said, Cult Of Alia is different, there are only slight traces of post-punk, it´s a successful balancing act of darkwave and industrial that has been refined to perfection.

Wonderful mid-tempo arrangements that nestle around the listener, create dreams with closed eyes and are not stingy with small, hidden secrets. But the wonderful melodies are not only suitable for dreaming and drifting, they are also danceable and suitable for the clubs of all countries. Sometimes more or less thick layers of synths compete for the listener’s favor while the rhythm manifests itself more and more in the body. One of the most interesting components is the distance to the usual mainstream, the sound feels very fresh and extravagant. Sometimes very soft to then quickly become harsh and hard. Without sounding distracting, on the contrary, it all sounds like a unified whole. An experience that you, whether with headphones or through a good HiFi system will also experience tingling through the skin. Quickly you become part of the emotions and the world this music creates around you, just enjoying it with headphones is an experience you have to make. Close your eyes and let your mind drift with imagination to the songs. You will love it as much as we do.

Offerings is musically a small masterpiece with a big impact, shining brightly over the sometimes unfortunately tough and unspectacular horizon of electronic music. We love it!

Science Fiction/Music/Cult! Das sind die ersten Worte, die man auf dem Bandcamp Profil von Cult Of Alia findet. Eine klare Botschaft die das kalifornische Projekt auch zu 100% umsetzt, wie man jetzt am neuen Album Offerings nicht nur hören, sondern auch fühlen kann.

SciFi Fans werden bei dem Namen des Projekts natürlich sofort an die sagenhaften Romane von Dune erinnert werden, in dem der Kult um Alia Atreides vorkommt. Gewaltig wie die Saga strickt auch David Wright, Kopf und Mastermind hinter dem Cult, seine Songs. Schon mit den Releases zuvor hatte David gezeigt was für ein unglaubliches Potential in seinen Songs steckt. Richtige Musikfans werden bei dem Namen natürlich schon den Kopf gehoben haben und es stimmt, wir kennen David von der kalifornischen Post-Punk Band Creux Lies die weltweit eine große Fangemeinde um sich versammelt hat. Aber wie gesagt, Cult Of Alia ist anders, nur geringe Spuren von Post-Punk, ein gelungener Spagat aus Darkwave und Industrial, der bis zur Perfektion verfeinert worden ist.

Wundervolle Mid-Tempo Arrangements die sich um den Hörer schmiegen, bei geschlossenen Augen Träume entstehen lassen und mit kleinen, versteckten Geheimnissen nicht geizen. Aber nicht nur zum träumen und treiben lassen eignen sich die wundervollen Melodien, sie sind ebenso tanzbar und tauglich für die Clubs aller Länder. Mal mehr oder weniger dicke Lagen aus Synths wetteifern um die Gunst des Hörers während der Rythmus sich stetig mehr im Körper manifestiert. Ein der Interessantesten Komponenten ist dabei der Abstand zum üblichen Mainstream, der Sound fühlt sich dadurch sehr frisch und extravagant an. Mal ganz sanft um dann schnell schroff und hart zu werden. Ohne ablenkend zu klingen, im Gegenteil, es klingt alles wie aus einem Guss. Ein Erlebnis, das ihr, ob mit Kopfhörer oder über eine gute HiFi-Anlage auch über die Haut kribbelnd erfahren werdet. Schnell wird man teil der Emotionen, der Welt die diese Musik um einen herum erschafft, gerade das genießen mit dem Kopfhörer ist eine Erfahrung die man machen muss. Augen schließen und seine Gedanken mit Fantasie zu den Songs treiben lassen. Ihr werdet es ebenso lieben wie wir.

Offerings ist musikalisch gesehen ein kleines Meisterwerk mit großer Wirkung, das strahlend hell über den manchmal doch leider etwas zähen und unspektakulären Horizont der elektronischen Musik leuchtet. Wir lieben es.
