Letters To A Vampire

Pete Mills is back with an intense, dark EP and once again creates an emotional piece that won’t let you go. The Los Angeles-based multi-talent focuses on musical contrasts and so every song is unique. Pete even has an equally captivating video on Undead, which fits perfectly to the song and gives it another measure of impact. The enormous landscape scenery of the Sequoia Nation Park combined with the Californian flair of the cemeteries there and the magical circle of candles will impress you. Wonderful. Classical elements like a piano that slowly but steadily increases together with the violin to finally explode with Pete’s voice.

Forbidden is no less intense, even if it starts out a bit more dreamy at first and focuses more on guitar sound and solos, but doesn’t leave classical music completely aside and rather inserts it as small encores. Love, pure emotions summarised in music, with a pinch of despair that lets the listener float through the song.

Queen Of The Damned is the most “rocking” song of the EP and is full of driving beats and even more energetic guitars. It’s fun and somehow suits Pete quite well, as you can see his passion for music in every song and generally in all his releases.

A great EP that once again shows the skills of this all-round talent and we are looking forward to the next songs from L.A.

Pete Mills ist zurück mit einer intensiven, dunklen EP und erschafft erneut ein emotionsgeladenes Stück das einen nicht mehr loslässt. Das in Los Angeles beheimatete Multitalent setzt dabei wieder einmal auf musikalische Gegensätze und so gleicht kein Song dem anderen. Zu Undead hat Pete sogar ein gleich ein ebenso fesselndes Video im Gepäck, das sich perfekt an den Song anschmiegt und ihm noch ein weiteres Maß an Wirkung zukommen lässt. Die gewaltige Landschaftskulisse des Sequoia Nation Parks kombiniert mit dem kalifornischen Flair der dort liegenden Friedhöfe und dem magisch anmutenden Kreis aus Kerzen. Wunderbar. Klassische Elemente wie ein Piano das sich zusammen mit der Violine zu ganz langsam, aber stetig steigert um schlussendlich mit Pete´s Stimme zu explodieren.

Forbidden ist nicht minder intensiv, auch wenn es anfangs etwas träumerischer beginnt und den Fokus wieder mehr auf Gitarrensound und Solos legt, die Klassik aber nicht ganz beiseite lässt und eher als kleine Zugaben einfügt. Liebe, Emotionen pur zusammengefasst in Musik, mit einer Prise Verzweiflung die den Hörer durch den Song schweben lassen.

Queen Of The Damned ist der “rockigste” Song der EP und gibt zwischendurch ordentlich Gas in Form von treibenden Beats und noch energischeren Gitarren. Macht Spaß und passt irgendwie ganz gut zu Pete, dem man ohnehin in jedem Lied und generell bei all seinen Veröffentlichungen seine Leidenschaft für Musik anmerkt.

Eine tolle EP die wieder einmal das Können des Allroundtalents zeigen und wir freuen uns auf die nächsten Songs aus L.A.
