Now we have a special debut at the Cold Transmission label. The Swiss duo Letten 94 celebrate their debut and cause a lot of attention. More than deserved, because Empty Landscapes is an audio-visual masterpiece in a class of its own.

The duo, consisting of Dolorès and Freddy Van Ballast, has been making music in the coldwave style since 1994 and uses special approaches. Sometimes very dark and mystical, sometimes with a large portion of aggressiveness. Empty Landscapes, even if it suggests a calmer style at first, is an absolute firework of musical impressions. While in modern times you can often feel where the musicians have set their focus, usually guitar or synths, the duo seems to let all components pelt the listener with full force. Alternately, they call one goose bumps after another on the skin and finally after the introduction of the first vocals it runs simultaneously ice cold and full of delight down your spine. A sonic experience that you first have to process. Intensive would be far understated. And as if it couldn’t get any better, the chorus finally knocks you off your feet. What kind of power the duo can pack into their songs is incredible.

Not only is the song in a class of its own, the video is just as exciting. Kommen wir zu einem Debüt der ganz besonderen Art im Hause Cold Transmission. Das Schweizer Duo Letten 94 feiern ihr Debüt und sorgen damit für einige Aufmerksamkeit. Mehr als verdient, denn Empty Landscapes ist ein audio-visuelles Meisterwerk er Extraklasse.

Dabei macht das Duo, bestehend aus Dolorès und Freddy Van Ballast schon seit 1994 Musik im Coldwave Stil und setzt dabei auf spezielle Ansätze. Mal sehr düster und mystisch, mal mit einer großen Portion Aggressivität. Empty Landscapes, auch wenn es zunächst eine ruhigere Art vermuten lässt, ist ein absolutes Feuerwerk an musikalischen Eindrücken. Während man in der heutigen Zeit oft spüren kann wo die Musiker ihren Fokus gesetzt haben, meist Gitarre oder Synths, so scheint das Duo alle Komponenten mit voller Wucht auf den Hörer prasseln zu lassen. Abwechselnd rufen sie eine Gänsehaut nach der anderen auf die Haut und schlussendlich nach dem einsetzen der ersten Vocals läuft es einem zeitgleich eiskalt und voller Wonne den Rücken runter. Ein klangliches Erlebnis das man erst einmal verarbeiten muss. Intensiv wäre noch weit untertrieben. Und als wenn es nicht noch besser werden könnte, haut einen der Refrain schlussendlich vollends von den Füßen. Was für eine Power das Duo in ihre Songs packen kann ist unglaublich.

Nicht nur der Song ist eine Klasse für sich, das Video ist ebenso aufregend. Color-Key der die Stimmung unterstreicht, die Schnitte perfekt umgesetzt und viel Liebe zum Detail machen das Gesamtpaket zu einem der besten Audio-visuellen Erlebnisse des Jahres.
