New Song // My Truth - Silent Runners

It was quiet around the Dutch legends Silent Runners for some time. The music world and the fans were eagerly waiting for new material. They searched, they listened to rumors, but it was pretty quiet around the quintet. Then, at the beginning of 2022, the teaser for the new release came out of nowhere and with “My Truth” there is not only a new song with a cool video, but hope for more music from Amsterdam.

Anyone who has ever heard a song of the five musicians will certainly remember the uniqueness of the sound. The mix of post-punk, the synths and the clearly noticeable 80s spirit drives directly into the listeners blood. The perfection that the guys give to their sound is almost supernatural. Basslines and drums that leave the listener no choice but to move are brought to the point with incredible precision, as are the waves of guitars that crash down on the listener. Impressive synths create a tingling sensation on the skin as well as the intense and unique vocals of singer Dolf. All together an experience you will always remember. There is only one enhancement to all of this. Seeing the five guys live, we speak from experience and as we write this we notice the hairs on our arms stand up.

My Truth follows the whole concept of course, but is on the whole faster and wilder than most of the Silent Runners’ songs. The song picks up speed right from the start and there is no respite for the listener until the last third. But the break is not long, because here energy is refueled to explode again properly to the finale. The beats are fast in, the melody sits quickly in the head and you can be pushed by the song over the dance floor. A real bundle of energy that will cause a stir on the dance floor or in front of the stage. The right song to announce the upcoming album in the spring and to get the people properly on. To the song there is also a video, which stylistically with the red-black tones and a lot of contrast sets the right accent and with the missing long shots increases the frenzy considerably.

Es war einige Zeit ruhig um die niederländischen Legenden Silent Runners. Die Musikwelt und die Fans warteten sehnsüchtig auf neues Material. Man suchte, man lauschte Gerüchten, doch es war ziemlich still um das Quintett. Anfang 2022 kam dann wie auch dem Nichts der Teaser zum neuen Release und mit “My Truth” gibt es nicht nur einen neuen Song mit coolem Video, sondern Hoffnung auf mehr Musik aus Amsterdam.

Wer einmal einen Song der fünf Musiker gehört hat, der wird sich mit Sicherheit an die Einzigartigkeit des Sounds erinnern. Der Mix aus Post-Punk, den Synths und dem deutlich spürbaren 80s Spirit fährt direkt ins Blut. Die Perfektion, die die Jungs dabei ihrem Sound angedeihen lassen ist schon fast übernatürlich. Basslines und Drums, die den Hörer keine andere Wahl lassen als sich zu bewegen sind ebenso mit unglaublicher Präzision auf den Punkt gebracht wie die Wellen von Gitarren die gewaltig auf dem Hörer niedergehen. Eindrucksvolle Synths erzeugen ebenso ein prickeln auf der Haut wie die intensiven und einzigartigen Vocals von Sänger Dolf. Alles zusammen ein Erlebnis, an das man sich erinnert. Es gibt nur eine Steigerung des ganzen. Die fünf Jungs live zu erleben, wir sprechen aus Erfahrung und beim Schreiben merken wir, wie sich die Haare auf den Armen nach oben stellen.

My Truth folgt dem ganzen Konzept natürlich, ist im großen und ganzen allerdings schneller und wilder als die meisten Songs der Silent Runners. Der Song legt schon zum Start ordentlich Tempo zu und bis zum letzten Drittel gibt es für den Hörer keine Verschnaufpause. Aber lang ist die Pause nicht, denn her wird Energie getankt um zum Finale noch mal richtig zu explodieren. Die Beats sind schnell drin, die Melodie sitzt schnell im Kopf und man lässt sich vom Song über die Tanzfläche schubsen. Ein richtiges Energiebündel das für viel Aufsehen auf der Tanzfläche oder vor der Bühne sorgen wird. Der richtige Song um das im Frühling kommende Album anzukündigen und die Leute ordentlich anzufixen. Zum Song gibt es auch ein Video, das stilistisch mit dem rot-schwarzen Tönen und viel Kontrast den richtigen Akzent setzt und mit den fehlenden Totalen die Rasanz noch erheblich steigert.
