New Album // NOCTURNÆ – This Eternal Decay

Even though the year is still new and fresh, the first days of January have already seen the release of some wonderful songs and albums. One of them comes from Italy and is called NOCTURNÆ. Behind the album with 10 songs and 45:45 minutes is the Project This Eternal Decay. Not an unknown band, because with “I Choose An Eternity Of This”, “Silence” or “Leave” the quartet had already impressed the music world in the past. Actually brought to life as a side project, the band has now achieved a permanent status, not only in Italy, in playlists and hearts of fans. If you take a closer look at the line-up, you will know why This Eternal Decay sounds so great. Riccardo Sabetti (Spiral69), Pasquale Vico (Date At Midnight), Andrea Freda (Spiritual Front) and Alessio Schiavi (Avant-Garde) are no newcomers and bring tons of experience to their project.

Nevertheless, even if you basically expect it, the album really blows you away. A package full of power and dynamics that does not reveal weaknesses for a second. Quite deliberately, the musicians have not concentrated on one genre, but create as before on “Silence” a mix of darkwave, post-punk, synth and light rock elements. Their own thing. Unmistakable and 100% This Eternal Decay. Massive beats and basslines in interaction with synths and the perfectly fitting vocals. Passages that are bursting with power and force, but do not lose themselves and leave the melodies enough space to manifest themselves in the listener over time. Slower and quieter passages serve only for the next acoustic assault on the eardrums. Varied and multi-layered, the disc does not get boring even after repeated enjoyment. On the contrary, it makes the longing for clubs, the lights of discotheques and extensive dancing on the floors increase rapidly. Songs perfected for high-end systems or live shows. They have the kick, they sweep you along and won’t let you go.

This Eternal Decay, even if they still like to be called a “side project” has long left this status behind and are an integral part of the music landscape. A band from which we will hear a lot more in the future!

Conclusion: A great album at the beginning of the year, which will be remembered for a long time and will certainly find its place in the top lists for 2022.

Auch wenn das Jahr noch neu und frisch ist, so sind in den ersten Tagen des Januars schon einige wundervolle Songs und Alben veröffentlicht worden. Eines davon kommt aus Italien, hört auf den Namen NOCTURNÆ. Hinter dem Album mit 10 Songs und 45:45 Minuten steckt das Project This Eternal Decay. Keine unbekannte Band, denn mit “I Choose An Eternity Of This”, “Silence” oder “Leave” hatte das Quartett schon in der Vergangenheit die Musikwelt beeindruckt. Eigentlich als ein Nebenprojekt ins Leben gerufen hat die Band mittlerweile einen festen Status ,nicht nur in Italien, in Playlisten und Herzen der Fans ergattert. Wer die Besetzung genauer anschaut, der weiß warum This Eternal Decay so klasse Klingen. Riccardo Sabetti (Spiral69), Pasquale Vico (Date At Midnight), Andrea Freda (Spiritual Front) und Alessio Schiavi (Avant-Garde) sind keine Neulinge und bringen Unmengen an Erfahrung mit in das Project.

Dennoch, auch wenn man es im Grunde erwartet, haut einen das Album regelrecht um. Ein Paket voller Kraft und Dynamik das nicht zu einer Sekunde Schwächen offenbart. Ganz bewusst haben die Musiker sich nicht auf ein Genre konzentriert, sondern erschaffen wie auch schon zuvor auf “Silence” einen Mix aus Darkwave, Post-Punk, Synth und leichten rockigen Elementen. Ihr eigenes Ding. Unverkennbar und eben 100% This Eternal Decay. Wuchtige Beats und Basslines im Zusammenspiel mit Synths und den perfekt sitzenden Vocals. Passagen die vor Kraft und Wucht strotzen, sich aber nicht verlieren und den Melodien genügend Platz lassen um sich im Hörer über längere Zeit zu manifestieren. Langsamere und leisere Passagen dienen nur für den nächsten akustischen Ansturm auf das Trommelfell. Abwechslungsreich und Vielschichtig wird die Scheibe auch nach mehrmaligem Genuss nicht langweilig. Ganz im Gegenteil, sie lässt die Sehnsucht nach Clubs, den Lichtern der Diskotheken und dem ausgiebigen Tanzen auf den Floors rapide steigern. Songs die für High-End Anlagen oder Live-Shows perfektioniert wurden. Sie haben den Kick, sie reißen dich mit und lassen dich nicht mehr los.

This Eternal Decay, auch wenn man es gerne noch als “Nebenprojekt” bezeichnet hat diesen Status längst hinter sich gelassen und sind fester Bestandteil der Musiklandschaft. Eine Band von der wir in Zukunft noch einiges zu hören bekommen!

Fazit: Ein großartiges Album zum Anfang des Jahres, das sehr lange in Erinnerung bleiben wird und sicherlich in den Top-Listen für 2022 seinen Platz findet.
