Bleakness from France is back with the new album “Life At A Standstill” and set a few new standards in the genre. An album that is above all fun.

With the opener Hold On you are briefly misled by a piano for a short time, because the song (like all the others) is basically pure dance floor dynamite. Driven by driving drums and perfectly fitting bass, the listener is left with no other choice to get into party mood. Quickly your legs bob along while the fat riffs fly around your ears and the vocals take everything up a notch. Pure adrenaline that forms in the listener and makes even old hearts beat faster. After two years of dancefloor break, songs like this feel like you’ve been making coffee with energy drinks and emptying the pot on ex. All the fibers of the body are drawn to the pogo circle. The songs taste of “bruises”, aching bones and yet incredibly fun and joy.

If you’re not into pushing and wild dancing, you’ll still get your money’s worth with Nicolas Bazire, Jake Burton and Fabien Mari. For those who only expect wild hustle and bustle, will be surprised beyond measure, because the songs have a lot of structures and nuances, which make it worthwhile to listen to the songs with the headphones or a little quieter on the home stereo. Be it the many pianos that one encounters in the songs or even a saxophone. Melodies that stay in your head for a long time and together with the choruses sometimes provide unexpected music flashbacks.

Bleakness do everything right. A crisp album of pure dark punk energy that not only has to be heard really loud, but also belongs on the live stage!

Bleakness aus Frankreich ist zurück mit dem neuen Album „Life At A Standstill“ und setzen im Genre gleich mal ein paar neue Standards. Ein Album das vor allem Spaß macht.

Mit dem Opener Hold On wird man kurz durch ein Piano in die Irre geführt, denn der Song (wie auch alle anderen) ist im Grunde pures Tanzflächendynamit. Angetrieben von treibenden Drums und perfekt passendem Bass wird dem Hörer keine andere Wahl gelassen um in Par-ty Stimmung zu kommen. Schnell wippen die Beine mit, während einem die fetten Riffs um die Ohren fliegen und die Vocals noch einmal alles eine Nummer größer machen. Pures Ad-renalin das sich im Hörer formt und auch alte Herzen schneller schlagen lässt. Nach zwei Jahren Tanzflächenpause fühlen sich solche Songs an, als hätte man mit Energy-Drinks Kaf-fee gekocht und die Kanne auf Ex geleert. Alles Fasern des Körper zieht es in den Pogo-Kreis. Die Songs schmecken nach „blauen Flecken“, schmerzenden Knochen und dennoch nach unglaublich viel Spaß und Freude.
Wer kein Bock auf Geschubse und wildes Tanzen hat, der kommt mit Nicolas Bazire, Jake Burton und Fabien Mari trotzdem auf seine Kosten. Denn wer nur wildes Geschrammel ver-mutet, der maßlos überrascht sein, denn die Songs besitzen ungemein viel Strukturen und Nuancen, die es auf jeden Fall wert machen sich die Songs auch mal mit den Kopfhörern oder etwas leiser auf der heimischen Stereoanlage anzuhören. Seien es die vielen Pianos die man in den Songs antrifft oder gar ein Saxophon. Melodien die über lange Zeit im Kopf stecken bleiben und zusammen mit den Refrains auch gerne mal ganz unverhofft zu Musik-Flashbacks sorgen.
Bleakness machen alles richtig. Ein knackiges Album aus purer Dark Punk Energie, das nicht nur richtig laut gehört werden muss, sondern ebenfalls auf die Live-Bühne gehört!
