The Secret Shelson’s Band

Speechless, overwhelmed, in love. These are the first three words that spontaneously come to mind when we hear the new EP from São Paulo. The Secret Shelson’s Band, a band that was only founded in February 2020 and now, after a demo album, unleashes a self-titled EP on the listeners. An EP that has it all, because the guys seem to have music in their blood. The mixture of post-punk with shoegaze influences is melancholic but light on its feet and worth every second of listening. Quickly you are caught in daydreams full of goosebumps and emotions. Guitars that nestle around the solid framework to go along with the driving bass and finally dissolve in the listener’s blood with the slightly melancholic vocals. There is no escaping it, you inevitably get caught up in the unique mood and the class of the sound.
Even though the guys list a lot of influences, they are incredibly far away from sounding like a copy or being quickly categorised. A solid EP that hopefully is just the beginning of a great series of releases, because the guys definitely have the potential to become big. We are curious and dream a little further with The Secret Sheldon’s Band.

Sprachlos, überwältigt, verliebt. Das sind die ersten drei Worte die uns spontan bei der neuen EPaus São Paulo in den Sinn kommen. The Secret Shelson´s Band, eine Band die sich erst im Februar 2020 gegründet hat und nun nach bereits einem Demo Album eine selbstbetitelte EP auf die Hörer loslässt. Eine EP die es in sich hat, denn die Jungs scheinen Musik im Blut zu haben. Schwermütig, doch auf leichten Füssen daherkommend ist die Mischung aus Post-Punk mit Shoegaze Einflüssen jede Sekunde hören Wert. Schnell ist man in Tagträumen voller Gänsehaut und Emotionen gefangen. Gitarren die sich schwirrend um das solide Grundgerüst schmiegen um mit dem treibenden Bass einherzugehen und sich schlussendlich mit den leicht melancholischen Vocals vollends im Blut des Hörers aufzulösen. Es gibt kein entziehen, man bleibt unweigerlich an der einmaligen Stimmung und der Klasse des Sounds hängen.
Auch wenn die Jungs jede Menge Einflüsse aufzählen, so sind sie unglaublich weit davon entfernt wie eine Kopie zu klingen oder sich schnell in eine Kategorie einordnen zu lassen. Eine solide EP die hoffentlich erst der Anfang einer großen Reihe von Veröffentlichungen ist, denn die Jungs haben definitiv das Potential ganz groß zu werden. Wir sind gespannt und träumen noch ein wenig weiter mit The Secret Sheldon´s Band.
